I read somewhere that the Hello World posts are frustratingly annoying. I agree. Well, for the most part. In the same way semi-ambitious people start going to the gym as a new year’s resolution, there are people who attempt to blog and leave it after only a few posts. The abundance of these, of course, is not terrific.
On the other hand, Hello World is a lot more than an initial post. Ever write a program? I find the connection between building this website and having an initial post be my Hello World to be somewhat poetic. So without further ado, here is my Hello World.
It is the purpose of this site to make myself available to those who are interested. More often than not, I believe the potential employer is the likely visitor. Having a well kept web presence is important for this purpose and the site has been designed with that in mind. There may be other people visiting for my photography as well. I really don’t know what to expect for this, but I do realize its importance.
A secondary purpose is for self-preservation. As far as I can tell, there will be an Internet forever. My online presence is permanent. Up ’till now, that presence has been through social media. So it kinda begs the questions, what am I leaving for my kids to discover about me, or my kid’s kids? Am I really excited that they can comb over my Facebook account? I’ve realize that this will give them only one distinct version of me and I would love to supplement it with a diary of sorts.
So this is my www.benjaminbarlow.com Hello World, stating my purpose on claiming this little corner of the web.
